staind consists of 4 members:

aaron lewis ; singer & guitar; born 13th april 1972 in Vermont, Rutland;
mike mushok ; guitar; born 10th april 1969 in Manhasset, NY;
johnny "old school" april ; bass & background vocals; born 27th March 1967 in Enfield, CT;
jon wysocki ; drums; born 17th january 1970 in Northampton, MA;




biography:

in 1993 aaron lewis, mike mushok and jon wysocki started the band 'staind', first with another bass singer, who was displaced by johnny april at the end of 1995.

they had a long tour through new england and in november 1996 they released their first album 'tormented' themselves, which was sold 4000 times in 2 years.

in 1997 they should have a gig with limp bizkit in hardford, connecticut. fred durst, the leadsinger of limp bizkit tried to avoid the gig because of - as he thought - satanic pictures on the cover of 'tormented'. he could not stop them from performing, and afterwards he said, staind is the best band he saw during the last 2 years. their big break came after that, because fred durst signed them to his 'flip record' label and co-produced their 1999 breakthrough album 'dysfunction'.
their third album, that is often called their best album, was released in 2001, and achieved platin three times.

the 4th album is rather calm and a lot of the "senior" fans don't like it that much.
the 5th album 'chapter v' that was released 2005 goes not back to 'dysfunction' either. aaron lewis: "i cannot always sing about how easy it is to fall. life is to stand up again and dust off your clothes."
